Valley Presbyterian Hospital

This safety-net hospital provides top-quality health care to the wider San Fernando Valley community of Los Angeles, regardless of ability to pay. The 350-bed facility provides a full range of services, from its emergency department to specialty clinics such as the Valley Hip & Knee Institute.

Starting with the rudiments of a brand refresh (conducted under my guidance as account lead with the predecessor agency), CMC created a unifying identity and messaging for the entire operation, while protecting the independence and individuality of the many standalone groups and departments within the hospital structure. As agency of record for the hospital, we managed the full scope of communications projects, from concept to completion, and including media planning and buying.

Our work supported the public-facing marketing operations as well as human resources for internal communications. Communications projects included short-form (such as advertising and brochures), long-form including patient guides and manuals, scripting the entire VPH website and support for all hospital initiatives, no matter the size.

VPH Brand Standards

Upon engagement, VPH had a bare minimum of brand standards: just a refreshed logo and typefaces. Through an iterative process over several months, engaging key executive stakeholders, we created a thorough standards practices manual covering virtually every public touchpoint, online and on-site.

This key art was created in online and offline versions, including delivery via print ads and door-to-door. Communications drove hundreds of local residents to the event.

The maternity department of VPH is among the busiest in all of Los Angeles. For this service, so important to the hospital and the community, we developed a full suite of bilingual, integrated materials to promote the hospital’s expertise and skill. Spanish headline translates as: Expecting? Expect more.
